At the Australian College of Community services, what our clients think is important to us, and here you can view just a small selection of the many personal training experiences from our client organisations and students. If you would like to share your experiences with ACCS, please contact us.

Feedback from the attendees of the Youth Mental Health First Aid training sponsored by RHealth, Toowoomba and facilitated by the Australian College of Community Services has been very positive with all commenting on the presenting style of the facilitator.

The training was conducted in a calm relaxed atmosphere with theoretical knowledge and personal experience combined in interactive sessions to give a well rounded overview of realistic skill building strategies.  The strength of the training was the excellent response of the attendees who were all of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and the ability of the presenter to deliver in a culturally appropriate manner.

Gary Graham - Outreach Worker

I recently had an opportunity to attend the two day ASIST workshop facilitated by Australian College of Community Services and would like to take this opportunity to convey my congratulations to the facilitators who conducted the training.

Over the years I have been to several very fine workshops designed to provide training on aspects of suicide intervention and I am pleased to say that the ASIST Training was by far the best that I have attended to date.

Geoff Larcombe - Team Leader

Queensland Aged & Disability Advocacy Inc (QADA) has noticed a significant increase in the number of calls requesting QADA’s services from people who have mental health issues.  QADA saw a need to upskill staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively support people with mental health issues.  QADA chose the Australian College of Community Services (ACCS) to provide a one day mental health training course to its staff.

Prior to the training ACCS met with QADA management to discuss the organisations requirements for the training and the training was tailored to meet the needs of our staff.  The course consisted of an overview of mental health, the mental health sector, working with people with mental health issues, the recovery model, pathways and services for referral and looking after your own mental health.

Margaret Deane - CEO

I attended the Mental Health First Aid course thinking it will be difficult, but it really wasn’t, the course is designed for EVERYONE to understand, and the tutor was amazing, she never gave us the opportunity to snooze with her quirkiness and ways of explaining, she kept everyone lively, the course was definitely educational and fun.
